Shirakawago village, Japan ( UNESCO WHS )
Shirakawa is a village located in the northwest part of Ōno District, Gifu, in Gifu prefecture, Japan. It is best known for being the site of Shirakawa-gō , a small, traditional village showcasing a style of buildings called gasshō-zukuri.
As of April 1, 2004 the village has an estimated population of 1,933 and a density of 5.4 persons per km². The total area is 356.55 km².
The village is located near Takayama, in Gifu. Together with Gokayama in Nanto, Toyama, it is one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites.
白川村為日本岐阜縣西北部大野郡的村。北與富山縣,西與石川縣接壤。
此村位於白山山麓,四面環山,地形較為孤絕,同時此村地處所謂的「豪雪地帶」,也因此為了適應此地冬天的環境,而產生了「合掌造」式的建築。
白川村至今依舊完整地保留有許多傳統的「合掌造」的建築,此村連同附近集落在1996年12月9日以「白川鄉與五箇山的合掌造村落」為名被聯合國教科文組織指定為世界文化遺產,而合掌聚落亦為同人遊戲暮蟬悲鳴時的發生地雛見澤村的參考藍本。
